Besides its ''flick-of-a-switch'' convenience, the insulated phenolic handles and feet mean that it remains safe to handle at all times, and can be used on any surface no matter how delicate - even a varnished garden table. For cleaning purposes its power supply is removable, meaning that the main unit, which is coated in non-stick Teflon, can be washed in complete safety (including putting it in a dishwasher). It's taller than most other smokers, giving more room to cook, for instance there is sufficient internal height for a rack of ribs!
