The perfect and original gift. The Silver Birch (betula pendula) has a characteristic white bark and its graceful slender habit makes it eternally popular. It has delicate, sharply cut diamond shaped leaves and yellow-green catkins in springtime. The fruits attract flocks of small birds in winter. The Silver Birch grows rapidly to a medium height (10-15m/33-49ft) making it an excellent choice for a new garden. Will grow in most open positions and thrives on poor, light, sandy soils.
