Yes you can always use a Jam jar but these honestly do look better ! Just add some sweetened water to sit within the lower rim and watch your wasp problems disappear. As an added environmental bonus, and to avoid having to get mucky, when you want to empty the trap just place on the garden overnight and other bugs should come and eat the dead wasps ( so we are told ?!! ).
