Founders, Michelle Scott and Sally Cunningham have been friends since they were teenagers and grew up to be self-professed holiday addicts and shopaholics. Whilst on holiday they would go shopping with the purpose of finding that piece of clothing, pair of shoes or bag with that bit of difference.
It all really started with a shopping trip to Copenhagen. They discovered some fantastic clothes and handbags. They came home and opened the doors of their lounge for some test marketing with their friends and family. The response was spectacular. So working from home and with a logo, (which was scribbled on the kitchen table one Sunday), Comfort & Joy Boutique was founded.
The path to opening the launch shop was not an easy one. The shop was originally a wreck, but there was great team spirit and a bucket load of imagination, and tons of sweat and tears.
The doors of Comfort & Joy Boutique were finally flung open after the final eviction of a family of pigeons who were living in the roof, Sally had completed her degree in window dressing (through countless of field trips to Bluewater), Michelle had made 864 cups of tea for the builders (one of which she married), followed by 124 Starbucks runs, 2 Costa coffees, several takeaway pizzas, a mountain of chocolate fudge cakes and a few sleepness nights!
The success of Comfort & Joy Boutique is due to their enthusiasm for the great products and commitment to good customer service. Their business philosophy is quite a simple one: to ensure every customer enjoys their visit and is 100% happy with every single purchase.
