To lose weight in a healthy way, we must control caloric intake and increase the amount of calories burned with some sort of physical exercise.
Commit yourself
It is all about determination and commitment, but not to a degree where it starts to take over your life!!! Set yourself a task, for example buy yourself a pair of trousers a size smaller than what you are already and give yourself a healthy 3 month challenge to fit into them. Or another example is using the same belt each time you can see results of weight loss around your waist. Aim to take in a hole every 2 months.
Write down why you are dieting
Make a list of why you are going to start your diet and look at it in times of difficulty, examples:
to give yourself more confidence
to live a healthy lifestyle
the summer is coming and you want to look good.
Make a copy of your list and stick it on the fridge and cupboards where food is kept, just to remind yourself before you are tempted to go for the biscuits and cakes etc.
Feel good about yourself
A negative attitude guarantees negative results. The minute you start talking about what your going to do if you lose, you have lost. Always feel good about yourself and make sure your self esteem is high. Don't let peoples negative comments bring you down, feeling down can make you comfort eat and end up in a circle you don't want to be in.
Avoid the scales
Your weight fluctuates mostly due to water weight on a daily basis, limit your scales visits to no more than once a week. Weight yourself on the same day at the same time, the best time is first thing in the morning after your first visit to the toilet, this will give you your true weight.
Reward yourself
Always treat yourself for example, if you have gone down a size in clothes treat yourself to a haircut or a new pair of shoes as you deserve it.
Keep records of how much you eat
A food diary will help you analyse your eating habits, make sure that you eat at least 3 meals a day. Avoid binging and starving yourself at all costs. Use the diary to see when any bad habits arise and prepare yourself for these, i.e. weekends.
Remember, if you mess up one day, don't worry just start again the next day. Never, never give up!
Good Luck
